Ok so there this guy that's one of my friend's roommate. He believes he knows everything and takes everything literally and analyses comedies to the point that it's horrible to watch tv in the same room with him. How do I not punch the dick in the face/?

 

My brother is like that. Everytime I try to watch something with him, he can't just watch something and enjoy it, he has to question plot holes and other shit in the movie all the time, like why didn't the characters do this or that isn't even possible in real life. Thus I don't watch stuff with him too much anymore because it takes away from my enjoyment.

Oh I hate that shit! My answer is always the same "its a movie/show where anything can happen and you know what its what the writters and director wanted so shut up and watch." And if they don't shut up I turn it off even if its not my place and when they complain about it I always say "well you would rather talk about than watch it so let's talk about it."

Sometimes they get the hint but they are so think headed you can never get though to them. They always want to know the answer right then and there I bet they use to look in the back of the book in school to see the answers rather than figure it out themselves

 

Analyse him, point out all his character flaws, then hit him.

edit. Before delivering the coup de grace call him a twat, then smile.

I had a friend with the a similar affliction.
I mailed him an unsigned condolence card, which included a fortune tellers description of his "little friend" being unceremoniously removed from his body, sent through a meat grinder and fed to his cat if he didn't stop interrupting movies, telling the end, or explaining his skills were so much better than pro athletes and their coaches or any other persons accomplishments. He got the hint for a while until it started again. Once again it stopped when he came home and found an old hand cranked meat grinder attached to the kitchen table. :excited:
There was always a group of us there at the time, so he never know who sent the "prophesy".

 

Reminds me of my boys on a long car journey - one loved to sing along to his favourite songs, the other loved to listen (without anyone singing along) and they would rile each other up something rotten

Ask him to take notes while you are watching the comedy. Ask him to write an essay about the comedy after it is over, and give it to you for your evaluation. Suggest tactfully that you would rather he not talk about the comedy while you are watching it. Perhaps you could say that you would like to make up your own mind while watching the comedy.

This way you would get him to be quiet. His essays would only take a few minutes to read. Who knows? Perhaps he will have some interesting insights.
