I've put up a separate thread for this but in the future I really do believe the best way to handle people like Big Clive is to not play their games. Just simply ignore them, don’t respond, and as ShakeZula put it so eloquently. DON’T FEED THE TROLLS.

Well, I'm glad he's gone. Although I could agree with some of his arguments. I mean, he is right about the inhabitants of America, he is right about the attacks on Somalia... It was just his tone of voice that annoyed me too.

Most Dutch folk I met are very strongly for freedom of speech. And can tolerate many view points around a table amicably, as long as the most basic human rights are observed by all.

 

Banning him was unnecessary, too quick.

 

I disagree in this case, though it's moot at this point.

Snarling, rabid animals have no place in society, let alone on our modest little forum. Control is unpleasant, but sometimes necessary. Besides, that individual wasn't trying to prove anything, and I'm certain he/she/it didn't care if the arguments used were truthful or not - only that they created turmoil.

His purpose here was to create upset, disagreement and ill will - not to promote a certain point of view. As long as the vileness continued to spew out and people retaliated or tried to defend themselves, that purpose was being fulfilled and a certain gleeful satisfaction was garnered. Even being banned would be self-satisfying, or so that hateful individual wants to believe, as upset and turmoil would be left behind to taint the rest of us. And so he wins, no matter what.

But that's only true if one doesn't understand what he was really trying to accomplish. If you're upset about any of this, try to find it in yourself to give a chuckle, then let it slip out of your mind. For it isn't worth the effort to be upset about it, after all. There are much more fun things to do here.

 

I'm new here and not to familiar with what is tolerated, but after reading this I would have kicked this guy's arse off the forum after his first post!

Don't give a platform to this kind of dangerous shit, and don't ignore it either, that's how people like Hitler got started, by people being tolerant and doing nothing!
