IF you are short of ideas of things to do these Easter holidays, we have got you covered. The next few days people can enjoy music and dance shows, plays that will leave them in stitches, and there is an exciting Easter egg hunt and fun activities for children with four-legged friends.

***Get ready to be dazzled***
PREPARE to be dazzled as FLATFOOT Dance Company showcases the premiere of Bodies Of Water at Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from April 10-13.
Award-winning choreographer, Lliane Loots, joins forces with celebrated Durban musicians Refiloe Olifant on violin, and Mandla Matsha on percussion, to offer a beautiful, soulful and thought-provoking new season of contemporary dance.
Don’t miss out as Bodies Of Water only has four public performances. Performances are April 10 and 11 at 19:00; April 12 and 13 at 14:30. Booking is via Webtickets. Tickets cost between R95 and R120.
On Friday, April 11, there is a special schools’ performance at 10:30 where learners can watch the show and engage in a special one-off Q&A with FLATFOOT after the performance. Scholars pay R60 and accompanying teachers get a free ticket. To book for this special email lootsl@ukzn.ac.za.

***Hop on to Easter egg hunt***
ANIMAL Anti Cruelty League (AACL) Durban & PMB Branch has partnered with The Blue Bundu Brigade Animal Rescue & Rehoming for an exciting Easter morning full of fun, learning, and adorable animals!
The event which promises to be a wonderful experience for the whole family takes place on Saturday, April 12 at 12:00 at 53 Artesia Avenue, D657 Road, Leckhampton Valley, Hammarsdale.
People can expect an Easter egg hunt. There will be eggs hidden in the gardens, prizes for children who collect the most eggs, as well as a gift for each child to take home. Angel Paws Therapy Dogs will do a therapy dog presentation to empower children with the knowledge of how therapy dogs help people in our community. There will be fun activities and games, puppy cuddles, dog walks and cat cuddles.
The AACL charity shop will also be open from 09:00 to 14:00, giving you a chance to shop and support their cause! Food and drinks will be on sale. Tickets are limited and cost R150 per child. To reserve your spot, WhatsApp Karen on 062 436 8810.
***A Musical journey through folklore***
PREPARE to be captivated as South African Music Awards award-winning artist Pilani Bubu graces the stage of The UKZN Jazz Centre on April 16 at 17:30. The artist will showcase a rich repertoire drawn from her acclaimed albums: Folklore Chapter 1, Folklore Chapter 2: Ekuseni, and her latest release, Nay’Indaba.
Audiences will be immersed in a tapestry of nostalgic African folk tales, ancient wisdom, and powerful reflections on South Africa’s history and freedom.
Her album Nay’Indaba, a collaboration with French trans-oriental jazz-rock band Marthe, is a sonic odyssey that contemplates 30 years of South African freedom through the lens of strong women. The album confronts complex historical and social issues while offering a message of hope and resilience in the face of inequality, youth unemployment, and poverty.
Accompanying Bubu on stage will be a stellar band featuring: Solomon Willy – guitar, Sean Sanby – bass, Sbu Zondi – drums and Ntokozo Nsibande – trumpet.
As the founder of the Folklore Community, Bubu introduces the 2025 Folklore Festival theme, #KINFOLK. KINFOLK’s 2025 manifesto celebrates the profound connections found in shared understanding and cultural inheritance, emphasising the power of kindred spirits coming together to enrich collective consciousness.

***Enjoy lighthearted comedy with theatre club***
THE Westville Theatre Club is thrilled to present One Act Play Extravaganza 2025 that will run from April 11-13.
The theme for this year’s extravaganza is lighthearted comedy so be sure to book your seats, bring your family and friends, food and drinks and enjoy loads of laughs.
The extravaganza will feature three original plays written and directed by two of the club’s members, two plays by Maya Olsen (Morning After Madness and Awkward Brunch) and one by Julian Correa (Flip of a Coin).
On Saturday, April 12, the plays that will feature are Thee Final Dress Rehearsal, Awkward Brunch and Morning After Madness.
On Friday, April 11 and Sunday, April 13 the plays that will feature are Flip of a Coin, 11:59 and George’s Miss(ed) Fortune.
Good to know
Doors open at 18:30 with curtains up at 19:00 for evening shows on Friday and Saturday, while for the Sunday matinées, doors open at 14:00 with curtains up at 14:30.

Tickets cost R100 per person per group performance (R80 for students and pensioners) and R150 per person for both group performances.

***Talk on jewellery design***
THE Decorative Arts Society’s presentation on Jewellery Directions in Design in Durban by Chris de Beer will take place on Tuesday, April 15 from 12:30 to 13:30 at the Visitors’ Centre, Durban Botanic Gardens. The fee is R50 for members and R80 for visitors. Refreshments will be served after

***Hop along to Easter egg hunt***
Hop to the Fig Tree Farm for baskets full of fun and adventure at their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13 from 10:00 to 14:00. The whole family can also enjoy an Easter Market with more than 70 local vendors. The cost is R150 per child for the Easter egg hunt (no spectator fees). Tickets are limited, book on Quicket.
