Yet pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies and hospitals are all making record profits...

This is another tool the Democrats are using to destroy the middle class and make them dependent on the government...

This was designed to enrich the insurance companies, and broaden the power of the federal government. Same old deal as always, politics as usual. Why do you think the democrat politicians passed it without even reading it? They knew it was good for THEM. C'mon it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Care New England to cut services, jobs at Memorial Hospital

    Posted on February 29, 2016

Care New England has announced plans to scale back services at Memorial Hospital.

The hospital announced Monday that it will eliminate a number of positions as well as its maternity ward and intensive care unit.

Care New England Spokeswoman Susan McDonald told WJAR-TV the company doesn’t know how many jobs will be eliminated or which departments will see cuts.

Care New England CEO Dennis Keefe says the Affordable Care Act, the hospital bed surplus in Rhode Island and the flagging inpatient income at Memorial are reasons for the restructuring.

Care New England took over Memorial in 2013.

If people would see that the ACA was created by and for the rich people so they could make a shit load of profit while butt fucking the hell out of the people it would make sense. Just so happens that the insurance companies are allowed to rape people and the people have no way out, nothing short of armed robbery.

That's funny because my wife has ACA and it's great! We love it, it's the best thing since sliced bread... She has had ACA for over a year and no complaints, it's affordable and our doctors and labs all accept it without question.

Once republicans quit using this as a political ploy and actually put some effort into improving ACA, we can move forward. To act like it's not needed is just one more thing that has driven some from the party.

The ACA is the worst thing ever. I used to have a great doctor now that doctor no longer practices medicine, quit as soon as ACA passed.

You are the first person I have ever heard praise Obamacare. I know people personally that have it, and it is useless. The deductibles are so high it's like not having insurance at all. Obamacare is a shit sandwich. It can't be fixed. It has to be trashed, and then we can start over.

So what you're saying is, you don't have ACA and aren't sure how it works firsthand. The wife has been covered when she goes to the doctor, labs, specialists and x-ray. She simply makes her copay. In fact, her copay is much lower than what it used to be pre ACA. I don't know how the deductibles work but she hasn't had to hit hers to get benefits for doctor visits. Perhaps if you're hospitalized and had very serious health issues, the deductible would come into play but then it will seem pretty cheap, comparitively.

At any rate, I always maintained that nothing would get done on affordable healthcare until those who get it provided to them free or heavily subsidized had to actually pay those crazy high rates themselves. Welcome to the real world, now maybe we can get something accomplished that works for everybody. Isn't that the best way?

The fix for the ACA would be single payer or Universal Health coverage.

I checked into getting Obamacare, and at $496 a month with a $12,500 deductible I decided it is not even worth having. I decided to stick with the coverage that my work provides. Once your wife has to go to the hospital, or God forbid something bad happens you will feel the sting of the high deductible, and out of pocket costs even after the deductible is met. Even after the deductible is met they only cover 70-80% of the bill depending on the plan. So say I had a $100,000 bill. I would be on the hook for a $12,500 deductible, and the another $17,500 in uncovered cost. That's $30,000 out of pocket. $100,000 is a low number. A heart attack or cancer would be way more than that. Obamacare is not worth the paper it's written on, and even if it was its not my place to subsidize your wife's healthcare.

The biggest complaint I hear about health care is how much it costs to park.

"Anecdotal" I know but. Last summer I was dock side when a local fishing guide came in ,he had a couple sweet ,nice older gents aboard ,they where from Tennesee I believe. The second gent was having trouble getting out of the boat,I offered my hand for assistance and asked if it was his back.He replied no it was a"hernia ",l said "why didn't you have it taken care of"? He said"I fell and broke my wrist this winter,I'm still paying for that"." I can't get insurance, too old and I got the diabeties".I said "that's terrible"He said "lots worse off than me honey". Broke my heart but maybe that's just the bleeding heart progressive in me. This from the nation that said they would put a man on the moon in ten years and did it nine. Everyone paid ,everyone shared the glory.

Go back and check the real numbers. I think you'll find that the $12,500 isn't the deductible but the maximum out of pocket expense you can be charged with for the entire family.. like if you all go over a cliff together and need life support.. or maybe you, the wife and 3 kids all need a heart transplant. Not likely too happen but a total of $12,500 for the whole shooting match isn't too shaby....

Things like dr visits, lab tests, specialty dr visits, urgent care visits and x-rays aren't subject to a deductible but will count towards your out of pocket expense.

At any rate, it has worked well for the wife and me too as saving money benefits us both. I won't sit here and agree with you that it's bad for us. It could be better but it's better than what we had.

I'm pretty sure I know how to read, and I know the difference in a deductible and an out of pocket expense. The deductible was $12,500. No insurance plan offers coverage with a total out of pocket expense of $12,500. That is just absurd, and I'm sure you're smarter than that. Again, Obamacare is garbage, and even if it works for your wife she doesn't have the right to have her health insurance subsidized on my dime. I have a hard enough time buying my own.

The ACA was a godsend. Neither my wife and I had insurance - our employers didn't offer any. I am a stroke survivor and we are both diabetic and no insurance company would offer anything we could afford. With the ACA we got insurance (and kept our doctors). Now we both have jobs that do offer health insurance and we have good plans (my wife will go on my plan when she retires.)

As far as most of the leaders of the Republican Party are concerned - Donald Trump is a notable exception - people in your situation prior to ACA should have died unobtrusively downwind.
