Eldorado Park among those affected by power outage
City Power works to restore electricity after the Orlando Switching Station trip affects multiple areas.

City Power (CP) is responding to a power outage in the south of Johannesburg, caused by a trip at the Orlando Switching Station earlier this morning.
CP spokesperson Isaac Mangena said the switch tripped at around 06:42, interrupting power supply to several areas including Mondeor, Nirvana, Eldorado Park, Industria and Eikenhof substations.
“Our operators are on site and working to restore power supply as quickly as possible,” said Mangena.
The Rand Water pumping operations in the south, which are supplied by the affected Eikenhof substation, were briefly affected, he added.

“We are pleased to announce that we have managed to restore supply at the substation. This comes after we engaged with Rand Water. We assured them that we are making every effort to resolve this situation swiftly to minimise disruption.”
He said the remaining areas are expected to be reinstated soon.
“As a precaution, we urge all affected customers to unplug appliances to prevent potential inrush currents that could lead to further network challenges.”
