TaylorMade RocketBladez Irons

Club makers have been pushing design boundaries with drivers for years, making thinner faces that launch the ball with a trampoline-like effect.

This set brings the same thinking to irons: 2-mm slots in the soles of the three- through seven-irons let the faces flex and rebound at impact. The result is longer shots and more forgiveness when you don’t nail the sweet spot—an issue that TaylorMade claims causes the most misses among amateurs. Each slot is filled with polyurethane to quiet vibration, making the club feel soft on contact. The garish racing stripes and silly name might not appeal to all players, but the technology and performance are hard to top.

1// Titleist 913D2 Driver
Titleist has a history of making equipment for low-handicap players. Its latest driver bucks that rap with a forged face insert that gives more ball speed on imperfect strikes.

2// Adidas AdiZero tour Golf Shoe
Traditional golf shoes were more dress shoe than sneaker. The Tour breaks from that heritage. It’s lighter than most cleats
but offers a solid platform for aggressive swings.

The black stripes on the Versa’s head give a clear sense of the club’s alignment with the ball, helping ensure that you’re at least aimed where you want to hit it.
